Now for 10 new photos! The first 5 were taken with my iPhone, the next 5 were taken with a Canon digital SLR.

 I managed to decide on my 5 old favorites last night, so I'll go ahead and post them.  All of these were taken with my iPhone because it actually has a better camera in it than my old Sony Cybershot (which also no longer has a flash...).  The zoom on it always makes things grainy though, so most of the ones that turned out well were not taken with the zoom!!

I've always like the division between trees and sky in this one, and the clouds lined up almost perfectly.

This is a tailed blue butterfly on a mimosa leaf.  I had to sneak up on it.

I don't like the lighting in this one, but I love the perspective.  It really exaggerates how big Truly (the horse) is compared to his rider.  She is about 5'4"; he is at least 17hh (=5'8" at the shoulder).

Strange adult "true" bug that was on a pecan tree.  He is just so well camouflaged that he disappears after moving back from the image.  For some reason, I like it that the subject is hard to see.

This was actually just a reference photo for my Comparative Vertebrate Anatomy class, but the space and reflections within the photo turned out so well that it has become a favorite.

Digital Photography Course

My semester at USC Upstate has begun! Be prepared for a lot of things that I post from my class work.  One of my classes, Digital Photography (I'll call it DP or DigPh), has a blogging requirement, so that will be a regular post (looks like weekly).  Our classmates are encouraged to look at each others' blogs and leave comments, so there might be dialogue (mine and others') that is class-oriented.

DigPh:  This weekend's assignment is to (1) buy/explore our cameras and read up on aperture, shutter speed, and focal length; (2) bring in 10 new images from over the weekend of things we find interesting to see through our viewfinders, and (3) to bring in at most 5 images that we have taken in the past and still find appealing.  I will post those images, probably around Monday or Tuesday.

7/17 Cat Sketches and a sketch of Momma working on her Mac

Sorry for the lack of posting.  I was a counselor for Nature Camp (with an Introduction to Horses) out at Scotsgrove Stables this past week!  It was hectic, since this is the first year we've tried it!  My sister and I feel like the kids did enjoy themselves, and we have some new ideas for next year =) BUT all that meant that I didn't get any sketches or drawings done! This week should settle back in, and then school (and my 9 hours of art classes!) will start on the 23rd, so there will be even more artwork!!  Can't say I am not looking forward to THAT.
